Scalp Micropigmentation

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Scalp Micropigmentation

Q: How long have you been performing SMP? What qualifications do you have?

A: Sally holds full qualifications in Scalp Micropigmentation from the UK, where this technique originated. She has undergone extensive and advanced training with top industry experts in the UK, gaining expertise and experience in the latest SMP techniques.

Q: What is your clinical hygiene practice?

A: At iBrow Studio, we strictly adhere to the hygiene standards set out by the Health Protection Unit & Department of Health UK. We follow all government guidelines regarding the use of sterile, single-use needles and gloves, which are disposed of correctly after each treatment.

Q: What will my new hairline look like? Can I change my hairline after the first session?

A: Your hairline is customised specifically for you. We work together to create the desired look, and I will offer recommendations based on your preferences. The hairline is a critical aspect of SMP treatment, and I dedicate ample time to ensure it is ideal for each client. Throughout the process, we can make adjustments to the hairline as needed.

Q: Is my hair loss situation suitable for SMP treatment?

A: SMP treatment is suitable for various hair loss conditions, including male pattern baldness, male alopecia, adding density to hair transplants for males, female pattern hair loss, and female alopecia.

Q: Does it cause discomfort?

A: At iBrow Studio, we prioritise your comfort and ensure a pain-free experience by utilising the best numbing cream available for SMP treatments.

Q: How long does each session take?

A: On average, each SMP session takes approximately 2 hours to complete.

Q: How long does SMP last?

A: SMP is a permanent solution for hair loss. With proper maintenance touch-ups along the way, it can last a lifetime. The frequency of touch-up sessions depends on various factors such as metabolism, lifestyle, and skin type. Activities like swimming, exercise, sunbathing, and using sun-beds can affect the longevity of SMP. Most clients require touch-ups every 4-6 years, but those who engage in frequent sun exposure, exercise, swimming, have a high metabolism, or possess an oily scalp may require touch-ups every 3 years. Touch-up sessions typically take 1-2 hours.

Q: How many treatments are needed?

A: All SMP treatments are performed over the course of 3 sessions.

Q: What type of pigment do you use?

A: At iBrow Studio, we exclusively use the highest quality organic charcoal-based pigments. These pigments are 100% safe and guaranteed to maintain their colour throughout their lifetime. We do not use tattoo ink.

Q: Does SMP damage my hair follicles?

A: No, SMP treatment does not damage your hair follicles or affect your normal hair growth. It is completely safe and does not interfere with existing hair transplants.

Q: Do I need to shave my hair?

A: Yes, please shave your hair before SMP treatment.

Q: Will my scalp appear red or sore after SMP treatment? Will the treatment be noticeable to others?

A: After SMP treatment, it is common for your scalp to exhibit slight redness, which typically subsides within 2 to 3 days. If you prefer, you can wear a hat during this initial period. Once the redness fades, the treatment becomes virtually undetectable. Our meticulous pigment selection ensures a seamless match with your hair follicles. Clients have often received compliments from friends who notice a positive change in their appearance, such as looking well or younger, without being able to pinpoint exactly what has been done.

Q: How much does SMP cost?

The cost of SMP varies depending on the extent of your hair loss. We invite you to schedule a consultation with Sally by texting or WhatsApp on 07828799988. Our consultations are completely free of charge, and you are under no obligation to proceed with the treatment.
